Icebreakers

Here is an example of a fun icebreaker:
The directions are, "In a couple of paragraphs, one for a summary and another for your personal involvement, tell about your movie and explain why it's special to you. Post your movie story on the Discussion Board -- Let's Go to the Movies. Please respond to and welcome others as they share their special movie."

This was my reply to the prompt- "My movie has it all- 'Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles...' If you've seen it, you know that I'm talking about "The Princess Bride". The movie begins with a young farm boy (Wesley) who is in love with a maiden (Buttercup) who happens to be his boss. After Buttercup becomes engaged to the evil Prince Humperdink, she is kidnapped and Wesley must rescue her.
This was one of the very few movies which my family owned when I was growing up. We watched it on VHS so many times that we wore it out. I'm quite sure that I have the entire script memorized. I love so many parts of this movie- the snarky humor, the "Fairy tale" story of handsome farm boy rescuing princess, etc.

Here is a trailer for "The Princess Bride". I hope you enjoy it!
